Building a Foundation on a Floodplain

It's not easy building on a floodplain, especially one bordering a regulatory floodway. Still, that's the challenge custom builder Michael Frieburger, owner and director of design and development for NEWLOOK Design|Build + Development, took on with the Experience Home, part of Pro Builder Media's IDEA Home series. Using a carefully engineered system, Michael and his team are building a foundation that will avoid the problem of floodwater altogether—by setting the home above it. It's complicated and work heavy, but effective.
